Feeding and management of young rabbits

Rabbits from weaning to 3 months of age are called young rabbits. Young rabbits are characterized by rapid growth, low disease resistance, and high mortality. Therefore, improving the survival rate of young rabbits is an important part of raising young rabbits.

(1) Feeding Feeding young rabbits should be easy to digest, small in size, and of high nutritional value. It should be rich in protein, minerals, and vitamins. Feed 3 meals of green feed daily, concentrate 2 meals, and feed each other. In order to enhance disease resistance and prevent disease transmission, a small amount of antibiotics such as oxytetracycline and tetracycline should be added to the feed. The feed composition and feeding amount are relatively stable and gradually increase with the age of months.

(2) Strengthen the exercise and increase the metabolic capacity During this period, the growth and development are fast and the food is too much. They should be kept in separate cages according to the size and strength of the young rabbits. Each cage has 3 to 4 cages and there must be 1-3 hours of cage activity every day. . In addition to the rainy days, the summer is put at dawn and the winter is warm at noon. The spring and autumn seasons are released in the morning and through exercise, the metabolic capacity of young rabbits is increased.

(3) Timely shearing of weaned rabbits The first time a sheep is cut at about 2 months of age, it is necessary to cut the hair for the first time (commonly referred to as “the head knife hair”), that is, to cut off all the milk hair (the winter and spring weather is cold and can be slightly longer), shearing hair There is a role in strengthening blood circulation and promoting metabolism. After shearing the young rabbits, it is necessary to strengthen nursing care, and carefully feed them. After winter and early spring shearing, care should be taken to keep them warm and cold.

(4) The young rabbits after weaning for medication and disease prevention are vulnerable to outbreak of coccidiosis due to weakened resistance. Therefore, weaned young rabbits should be checked for fecal matter once, and immediately after the oocysts are found, treatment measures are taken. In order to prevent the occurrence of coccidiosis, anticoccidial drugs should be added to feed and drinking water to prevent the occurrence of coccidiosis.
