The Philippines exports 110,000 tons of raw sugar to the United States, China, and other Asian countries

The foreign news agency reported on October 11th that the Philippine Sugar Regulatory Authority said on Tuesday that the Philippines exported 113,000 tons of raw sugar to the United States and some Asian countries. The shipment period was between September and December, which accounted for approximately Philippine plans for export in 2011/12. 17%.

The Philippines plans to export 672,000 tons of sugar in 2011/12 starting in September, setting a record, mainly because the country expects to have surplus sugar for the second consecutive year.

Rosemarie Gumera, director of policy and planning at the Philippine Sugar Authority (SRA), said that in addition to the 144,901 tons import quota in 2011/12, the United States purchased additional Philippine raw sugar.

China, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam and Taiwan also purchase Filipino sugar, she said, but did not disclose their imports.

Regina Martin, director of the Philippine Sugar Authority (SRA), said that due to the start of the new crop season next month, domestic sugar stocks can be replenished. At the beginning of October, raw sugar inventories in the Philippines were slightly higher than 200,000 tons, and refined sugar stocks were about 130,000 tons.

The total sugar output of the Philippines in 2010/11 was 2.39 million tons, the highest in three years and an increase of 21% year-on-year. The Philippines consumes about 2.2 million tons of sugar per year.
