How to Breed Goats

Purchasing 1 to 3 purebred goat rams and mating them with local female goats to produce the next generation of Boer Goats. A generation of Boer goats can be raised as mutton goats for grazing. Left as a breeder, the female lambs of a generation of Boer goats grow up and mate with purebred rams to produce second-generation Boer goats. It should be noted that when a generation of Boer goat ewes estrus, do not mate with their father sheep to avoid inbreeding. The second-generation male lamb can not be used as a breeder after it grows up. The second-generation female lamb grows up and mates with another pure-bred goat to facilitate the production of three generations of Boer goats. By the third generation, both males and females can be kept and crossed.

In general, with this method of breeding Boer goats, two to three years will be able to breed a large number of purebred Boer goats, much more affordable than the direct purchase of Boer goats. Ewes used for mating must be large in size, and small goats may be born with purebred sheep after conception, and mothers and daughters are at risk. Saanen goats are large in size and low in price, and are the first choice for mating and breeding with Boer goats. Of course, breeding Boer goats does not necessarily mean using Saanen sheep, but it must be large.
