Spraying drip irrigation technology on 1250 mu of land in Tianyuan Town, Cixi, Ningbo

In the past few days, Xu Hongchu, a farmer from Tanhe Village, Tianyuan Town, Cixi City, Zhejiang Province, is carrying out summer draughts and installing drip irrigation for more than 300 acres of land. He was pleased to tell the reporter that last year he installed drip irrigation on 15 acres of grape fields and 15 acres of pear heads. After using drip irrigation technology, the fruit matured early and the meat was full, and the income doubled. This year he plans to use all of this technology on the remaining 300 acres of land.

In recent years, changing traditional production methods and changing irrigation methods has become an important means for Tianyuan farmers to increase their agricultural efficiency. The drip irrigation technology can realize the “three combination” of irrigation, fertilization, disease prevention and treatment, effectively prevent soil compaction and waterlogging, and greatly save labor costs, improve the utilization rate of pesticides and fertilizers, reduce labor force by about 70%, and save pesticides. And fertilizer costs 20-30%. The average canal irrigation water is 100 cubic meters per acre, while the spray drip irrigation technology uses 25 cubic meters per acre, and the water saving rate reaches about 75%. By the end of 2009, there were 9 households in the town, and drip irrigation technology was applied to 600 mu of land.

Tianyuan Town vigorously supported farmers to take the road of facility agriculture, so that the majority of farmers can really benefit from facility agriculture. This year, the town continued to promote the application of drip irrigation technology as a livelihood project. Many of the contractors on the two sides of the Zhonghua line, such as Tanbei Vegetable Base and Lifeng Vineyard, which have tasted the sweetness, are carrying out the current idle period of the soybeans after harvesting, and the remaining land will be modified by spray drip irrigation. These projects are expected to be completed in the last 10 days, in preparation for the basic realization of no human irrigation. It is reported that this year the new installation of spray drip irrigation in the town reached 650 acres. By then, the town's 1,250 mu of land will be able to achieve large-scale irrigation of the land as long as it passes through a tap in Tiantou.
